Resumen

This research aims to understand how the commoners have processed political violence by armed actors, from the collective memory perspective. It is stated that the violent incidents occurred in the last two decades of the twentieth century have been screened and shaped by local people on their own interests, during post violence This research focuses its attention in the peasant community of Quispillaccta, which is one of four communities that make up the Chuschi district, province of Cangallo, Ayacucho department. It was precisely on the main square, of the district, where the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP - SL by its Spanish acronym) began its so-called armed struggle against the Peruvian state. Quispillaccta commoners have developed an interpretation of their recent past, in accordance with present requirements. This interpretation can be expressed as a speech that can complemented or confronted with the historical account endorsed by the Peruvian State's official institutions. In that sense, this peasant speech can use the official historical account as context of their own experience, or not, if it pursues other interests.
