Abstract
The progress of economic regulation and the environmental impact of large-scale mining copper concessions are analyzed using the expo facto and correlational methodology. It was found that large-scale mining contributes 94 percent of Peru’s annual copper production; copper exports from large-scale mining and mining income are positively correlated (2000-2019). Given the contamination of water, air, and agricultural land and the violation of the collective rights of mining territories' inhabitants in Peru, it is necessary to implement a comprehensive mining regulation with citizen participation and insertion into sustainable development.
