Comparaciones realistas: La isla de las mentiras de Paula Cons y La nostalgia de la mujer anfibio de Cristina Sánchez-Andrade

In 2020 Paula Cons wrote and directed the film La isla de las mentiras. In 2022, Cristina Sánchez-Andrade wrote the novel La nostalgia de la mujer anfibio. Both texts, from their semiotic registers, have been in charge of representing the shipwreck of the steamship Santa Isabel, «the Galician Titanic», on the coast of Sálvora, in January 1921. This article analyze the similarities and differences that both texts present in the representation. While the rhetoric used by Cons reveals a realistic intention (mimetic-plausible paradigm), Sánchez-Andrade transcends this and goes beyond the poetic and the allegorical.
